The prominent highlight of the facelifted XUV500 is the bump in the power output. As per emerging reports, the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine powering the new XUV500 will churn out 170bhp and 350-360Nm of torque.

The currently sold XUV500 delivers 140bhp and 330Nm of torque. Mahindra will also launch the Scorpio facelift in India with a power hike, so the company would also want its flagship SUV to be ahead of the competition in the power and torque department.

The interior of the XUV500 facelift is likely to receive updates. The SUV is already a well-equipped vehicle, and the additional features might be limited. Mahindra will retain the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layout of the current model. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox.

The Mahindra XUV500 does not feature extensive changes and will be a minor update. But the bump in the power output could be critical for the XUV500 as the competition is getting fierce in the SUV segment in the country. Expect Mahindra to showcase the XUV500 facelift at the 2018 Auto Expo. The company could also debut the production version of the XUV Aero Concept showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
