Two arrested for attacking PSI, main accused yet to be nabbed

NAGPUR: Hudkeshwar police have arrested two persons, identified as Balaprasad Pal and Mohd Akhtar, for allegedly attacking PSI Bhavesh Kawre at Mhalgi Nagar Square on Saturday afternoon. The main accused, Shahid and his 14 accomplices, are yet to be arrested. Pal and Akhtar were remanded to PCR till Tuesday.


Kawre, posted at Hudkeshwar police station, was on patrolling duty when he found that Shahid was fighting with unidentified persons. When Kawre intervened, Shahid recalled that the cop had arrested him a few days back in a case of assault. Shahid, who allegedly run an illegal chicken centre on footpath, asked his accomplices to bring sharp weapons to kill Kawre.


Kawre and other cops were beaten up before they made managed to escape and reached police station. When cops, along with senior officers, reached the spot the attackers had fled.
