GUIRIM: The gram sabha of Guirim village panchayat discussed the formation of several village development committees with the villagers alleging that the committees formed were "useless" as the villagers were not taken into confidence and were completely ignorant about the issue. Other issues raised at the gram sabha were garbage segregation, installation of pavers and streetlights and other developmental works concerning the village.
Villagers also suggested that dustbins installed at prominent places in the village did not have a proper mechanism in place to dispose the garbage. Some residents opined that a garbage truck be pressed into action to collect garbage and the panchayat agreed to put a mechanism in place to tackle the garbage menace .
Locals also proposed the door-to-door garbage collection system which was agreed to by the panchayat. The issue of hill-cutting was also fiercely debated at the gram sabha with the locals accusing the panchayat for turning a blind eye over the illegal development. Deputy sarpanch Sani Nanodkar assured the locals of conducting a site inspection and initiating action.
A Guirim resident raised the issue of a narrow road next to an open nullah in the village which was causing inconvenience for commuters using the route. Nanodkar assured to resolve this issue.
Residents assserted the need for a playground as the village didn't have proper sports facilties for locals. The sarpanch told the gram sabha that there are around eight files of various development works pending approval and development works can go ahead once the formalities are complete.
