Jharkhand Chief minister Raghubar Das today laid the foundation stone of the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBKM) at Bhelatand near here.
Named after Jharkhand state movement leader the late Binod Bihari Mahto, it would be the ninth university of the state.
Addressing a function on the occasion, the chief minister said his government is committed to educational development of the state.
The state government would soon set up a women's university at Jamshedpur and a technical university at Palamu, he said.
The state government has already appointed Dr DK Singh as acting vice-chancellor of the BBKM University.
