ALLAHABAD: The women's wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims to garner support of women voters by taking the social security schemes of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as state government's plans to their door steps.
The party has constituted as many as eight groups or tolis, who would be conducting door-to-door campaign in all 80 wards of the city. Each toli comprising two or three active women workers would interact with women voters on Ujjala, Jan-Dhan scheme, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and women security scheme being launched by the Union government.
BJP spokesman Pawan Srivastava said that women groups have been constituted in Shivkuti, Bhardwaj Ashram, University, Khuldabad, Preetam Nagar, Meerapur, Chowk and Naini divisions.
Former Mahanagar president Shashi Varshney has been appointed as head of women groups who would conduct door-to-door campaign from November 14 to 24. BJP Mahanagar vice-president Ashish Gupta said that it is the only party that has fielded a woman candidate for mayor's seat.
