2017 will possibly go down as one of the best years for Rajkummar Rao in Bollywood. After the appearing in Trapped, Newton, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Behen Hogi Teri, his fifth film this year, Shaadi Main Zaroor Aana is witnessing a decent run at the box office. Much like how it had been predicted by trade gurus, the film has earned Rs 7.46 crores till now. “I expect the film to make Rs 1-1.5 crore on the first day. By the time the weekend arrives it may earn Rs 6 crores if the reviews and word-of-mouth are strong,” trade analyst Girish Johar had told indianexpress.com earlier.

The audience seemed to have enjoyed the fresh pairing of Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda. “It’s not a feeling one can express. Viewers watched the film repeatedly and tweeted to me with promises to watch it again. I’m very grateful for such encouragement,” said director Ratnaa Singh.

“The collection at the box office has superseded our expectations. I’m overwhelmed with the response viewers have shown to the film,” said producer Vinod Bachchan.

Although Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana witnessed a clash with Qarib Qarib Singlle and a humongous Hollywood competition from Thor: Ragnarok, it has managed to stay strong. Both the Bollywood films, Qarib Qarib Singlle and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana are running at a similar pace. Though it is too early to predict if the film has any chance of crossing Rs 50 crore, nevertheless, with Rajkummar Rao’s strong fanbase Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana is expected to cover its basic budget. The film will also have to compete with Justice League and Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu coming weekend.
