400 students to get joyride in capital city

Panaji: More than 400 students will get a joyride on the double decker hop-on-hop-off bus in Panaji from November 13-15.

The programme has been organised as part of Children's Day celebrations.

Goa Tourism development corporation (GTDC) also has plans to come out with special offers for a hop-on-hop-off tour for the delegates of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2017.

GTDC has been preparing the ground for the smooth operation of the bus service in the last few days. The corporation said that the overgrown branches were posing a danger to passengers and were also damaging the bus. Hence, the operators had approached Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to get the trees pruned.

A GTDC official said that the CCP team was using their vehicles and manpower to trim the branches. The trimming was done by CCP and not by the electricity department, GTDC said.

"The double-decker buses were only used for the purpose of gauging the safety height during this exercise," the official said.
