Over Rs 1,400 crore of unaccounted income was recovered during the raids at the premises of Jaya TV and VK Sasikala's family members by the Income Tax department, reported news agency ANI.

Earlier, incriminating documents relating to shell companies were found during the raids.
The raids were conducted at 187 places under 'Operation Clean Money,' by a team of 1,800 IT officials. Sources in the IT department say that there were complaints about shell companies, dubious investments, fund flow and fudging of accounts by Jaya TV, started by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and currently controlled by the family of Sasikala.
Raids were also conducted in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi.

The IT department decided to conduct the raids following allegations of tax evasion. Further, the sleuths are also checking if there was any money laundering and also possible links to shell companies
