After several poor responses, the Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL) authorities have finally awarded the tender to an international firm to set up two duty-free outlets at the airport. The airport authorities said Flemingo Duty Free firm has been awarded the tender to set up the two outlets. “We have awarded the tender. The outlets are expected to set up in 120 days,” Chandigarh International Airport chief executive officer Sunil Dutt said on Sunday. He said one outlet each would come up at the departure and arrival area of the airport.

Earlier, when the airport authorities had floated the tender, three firms had shown interest to set up the duty-free outlets. Dutt said during the process, the Flemingo was chosen. Earlier the airport authorities failed to get a good response from global firms even after extending the date of tender submission twice.

According to the CHAIL officials, the firm which gets the tender can sell several products at the airport, including liquor and beauty products. The airport authorities had also added few more snack bars at the airport recently. One restaurant has also been thrown open for the passengers at the facility.
