Nothing political about meeting Karunanidhi: Actor Sarathkumar

CHENNAI: Pictures of actor-turned-politician Sarathkumar and his wife Radikaa meeting DMK president M Karunanidhi have been circulating on social media but the actor has said there is no political overtone to the meeting.

A message released in his name said that the meeting occurred two weeks ago but the pictures were released now. “Don’t give a political colour to it,” he said.

Sarathkumar, whose All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi is an ally of the AIADMK, said that the DMK chief was his political mentor and taught him the basics of politics, besides having love for his family.
“We should try to change the attitude of describing politicians in two opposing camps as enemies,” he suggested.

Leaders from different parties have been calling on Karunanidhi who has generally remained indoors at his Gopalapuram residence for more than a year due to his failing health. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an unscheduled visit to Gopalapuram to meet him when he was in Chennai for two events.
Senior Communist leader R Nallakannu called on Karunanidhi on Saturday.
