GUNTUR: Two students were drowned in Nagarjuna Sagar right canal at Tallapalli in Macherla mandal of Guntur district on Saturday. According to sources, a few students went to Tallapalli bridge for a morning walk. Meanwhile, Jakkula Ravindra (12) and Kommugoni Dattu (12) ventured into the Nagarjuna Sagar canal for a swim. The boys got caught in the current of the canal.

The police with the help of expert swimmers fished out the bodies from the canal. Both the boys were studying class VII in a government school. On hearing the news of the death of the boys, Dattu’s father Satyam and Ravindra’s father Nageswara Rao wept uncontrollably. The bodies have been shifted to Macherla hospital for post-mortem.
