Vadodara: A contract sanitation worker of a private company has registered a complaint of voluntarily causing hurt and endangering his life against five people at Bapod police station.
Complainant Nageen Parmar made allegations against K P Singh, Aalam Saheb, Hitesh Adiya, Pravin Pandya and Jagdish Waghela. The complainant alleged he and other workers were made to work without safety equipment.
Parmar told police in his complaint that on July 7, he and his co-worker Chirag were called to the terrace of one of the buildings in the company's premises on National Highway-8 to flush out filthy water from there.
Parmar and his co-workers Ramesh and Chirag were again called the next day for the same work and were allegedly forced by their supervisor Pandya to get into the water without any safety equipment to remove it with bucket along with a submersible water pump.
The complaint states that when the water level went down and the pump could not flush out the water, Pandya allegedly asked the workers to shake the pump. When the three workers touched the water pump, they got an electric shock and Pandya immediately pulled the plug. Parmar also alleged that when Waghela and Adiya reached there on knowing about the incident, they took it very lightly.
Other workers of the company came there and asked Parmar what happened, but he got an epilepsy attack. He was then rushed to SSG Hospital in 108 GVK-EMRI ambulance where he had to be admitted for five days.
He also alleged in his complaint that when he was admitted, he did not receive any immediate help either from the company or the contractor.
A police official said the accused have been called to give their statements on Tuesday.
