"It gives me pleasure to say that municipal corporations of Ayodhya and Mathura-Vrindavan have been constituted by our government. Both these municipal corporation are also going to polls for the first time."

Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, Urban development minister Suresh Khanna and UP BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey were also present on the occasion.

Pandey said, "BJP never contests poll to fulfil its lust for power. Rather our aim is to serve the people of the country."

"The party is not contesting urban local body polls merely to bag the posts of mayors or corporators, but to pledge that better quality of life can be given to people living in urban areas of the state," he said.

He exuded confidence that the party will register comprehensive win in the urban local body polls.

The Sankalp Patra consists of 28 sankalps (promises).
