HYDERABAD: A young civil contractor from the city was allegedly shot at by a businessman at the former’s house in the wee hours of Saturday. The police found that the weapon used in the offence belonged to the victim Syed Mustafa.  It may be recalled that family house of the accused businessman near Falaknuma was raided by Income Tax sleuths a couple of weeks ago. It is learnt that the accused believed that Mustafa had tipped off the  IT sleuths about his businesses.

Zubair Hussain, a businessman from the Old City went to the house of Mustafa at Kings Colony in Mailardevpally.  Argument over some petty issues between them reportedly resulted in a fight.
According to police, a gun shot was heard by the neighbours and when they rushed to see,  Zubair was found taking Mustafa in a car.  He admitted Mustafa in Virinchi Hospital in Banjara Hills. The doctors removed a bullet stuck in Mustafa’s abdomen.  Meanwhile,  Zubair fled the place and the weapon from which the bullet was fired was also missing.

On receiving information, the Mailardevpally police rushed to the spot and collected clues. A team visited the hospital to learn about the condition of Mustafa. It is learnt that Zubair, who was unhappy with the allegations that Mustafa had tipped the Income Tax officials about their disproportionate assets which led to the raids on his house  in the first week of November, opened fire at Mustafa.

“He is yet to regain consciousness. A bullet has been removed from his body and is stated to be out of danger,”  Shamshabad DCP P V Padmaja said. The DCP said the police are waiting for the victim to recuperate. “The victim is unconscious.  He has to recover and then we will record his statement for further probe,”  the DCP said.It is learnt that Zubair is said to be a close associate of a political leader in the Old City and is willing to surrender before the police by Sunday.
