An RSS activist was hacked to death near Guruvayur on Sunday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Anandan, 26, son of Sasi, of Nenmini.
An unidentified gang came in a car and hacked Anandan, who was riding a motor bike with his friend Vishnu, by 1.30 p.m. The attackers first rammed the car to his motorbike. When Anandan fell from the bike, they repeatedly hacked him.
Though Anandan, who was critically injured in the attack, was rushed to Chavakkad hospital, his life could not be saved. His friend Vishnu, who was also injured in the attack, is undergoing treatment.
The deceased was a second convict in the murder of CPI(M) worker Fazil four years back. He was released on bail recently.
Strong police force has been deployed in the area. The BJP has called for a harthal at Guruvayur and Manalur Assembly constituencies in protest against the murder.
