Ambaji: Rahul Gandhi on Sunday mounted a sarcastic attack on BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he told his social media army that he believes that Congress will not disrespect Modi beyond a point considering the top post of the country that he holds.

"When Narendra Modi was the chief minister, he made disrespectful statements about then PM (Dr Manmohan Singh). But I wrote an e-mail to Ashok Gehlot (Gujarat Congress in-charge) that we should harp on the mistakes of Modi and BJP but cross the lines in targeting Modiji respecting the fact that he is India's PM," said Gandhi at the `social media dialogue' organized in this temple town.

He is traversing north Gujarat on the fourth-leg of Navsarjan Yatra.

When asked, how does he battle BJP's constant attacks on his image, Gandhi said he uses `Shivji's philosphy', invoking mythical tale of Lord Shiva unflinchingly consuming poison after `samudra manthan. "I know my truth. BJP's negative attack will not prevent my truth from being reflected," said Gandhi.

Gandhi told Congressmen that they should accept their mistakes, apologize and move forward. "GST and note ban is Modi's mistake but till today he has never accepted this, said Gandhi who claimed that BJP might be gearing for `carpet-bombing' but the undercurrent is clear that the saffron is losing.

Gandhi gave an insight into his rising twitter following. "I have said that Pidi (his pet) tweets for me. I have three-four people who handle twitter.. I give them suggestions, they fine tune and tweet. Best wishes and routine tweets like wishing (LK) Advaniji birthday is handled by the team. I tweet on political issues", said Gandhi.

In a rare gesture, Gandhi invoked sister Priyanka Gandhi in taking pot-shots at BJP saying that workers in saffron party's meetings are always serious-faced while Congress believes in smiling and being happy!

"Priyanka told me that recently she was on a flight with four BJP leaders. During the 90 minute flight, not a single leader smiled even once. This is because BJP people are not happy with life while Congress believes while its future is good future," he said.
