NAGPUR:The three-day Purushottam Karandak inter-collegiate drama competition concluded on Sunday and the winners received prizes from Sandeep Joshi, leader of the ruling party in the NMC, at Scientific Society Hall.
The first prize for best actor male was won by Prasann Kale of Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Mahavidyalaya for his role in 'Wagh Yenar Aahe'. Best actor female was won by Sharayu Mate of Santaji Mahavidyalaya for her performance in 'Drushtant'.
The best performer award was given to Kajal Raut of Nritya Sangeet Kala Mahavidyalaya, Amravati, for her performance in 'Jigri'. The award for best direction was clinched by Swati Kulkarni of KR Pandav Mahavidyalaya for the play 'Jaha Laxmi Rehti Hai'. The award for best dramatized reading was given to Vaibhav Deshmukh of Lt Chaganlal Muljibhai Kadi Kala Mahavidyalaya for the play 'Anuragam'.
The three best plays 'Anuragam', 'Drushtant' and 'Wagh Yenar Aahe' will be staged at the mega finals to be held in Pune in December. The three-member jury comprising of Ajay Dhawaney, Meenakshi Bhave and Nitin Dhanduke did not find any of the plays suitable for best writer (student) and best experimental play awards.
