Arms supplier held with 20 pistols in Jhansi

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), P S Kushwaha, said the accused, identified as Salman, was  arrested from his residence. He was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh for his arrest, the DCP said.

Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested an alleged arms supplier from Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi and recovered 20 sophisticated pistols and 100 live cartridges from his possession. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), P S Kushwaha, said the accused, identified as Salman, was  arrested from his residence. He was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh for his arrest, the DCP said.

Kushwaha said that the Special Cell has successfully busted several inter-state arms syndicates and recovered more than 650 pistols and revolvers, one carbine, four modified carbines, 20 countrymade guns and 6,500 cartridges in the recent past.  Recently, the unit nabbed two arms suppliers, Kailash and Madhav Rawal, both from Madhya Pradesh; and recovered 17 weapons from their possession.

“During their questioning, Salman’s name surfaced. It was also found that Salman was a supplier of arms and ammunitions to criminals in Delhi-NCR, Agra, Jhansi, Orai, Jalon, Dhaulpur, etc,” said Kushwaha.
