GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has decided to appoint a transport planner to improve inter-connectivity and intra-connectivity of roads within Greater Noida and has initiated a Request for Proposal to hire an expert.
Greater Noida is a Greenfield, modern, integrated city. The Master Plan of this city envisages a population of around 1.2 million by 2021.
GNIDA CEO Debashish Panda said, "Since we are responsible for development and administration of the city and given the current scenario of development and considering the upcoming developments in the area including the metro project and international airport at Jewar, GNIDA intends to appoint a transport planner to propose solutions for improving inter-connectivity and intra-connectivity of roads within Greater Noida."
The CEO said that keeping in mind the future traffic scenario, GNIDA has decided to select a consultant or consortium to put into place traffic solutions at identified locations. "The consultant will undertake detailed surveys and analysis for smooth traffic flow in the region along with financial analysis and detailed design and support plan. The transport planner will also be responsible for understanding the current scenario, estimating future demand and suggesting interventions for improving connectivity," Panda explained.
Panda said the plan will be undertaken in two phases. While phase 1 will involve preparation of transport plan for Greater Noida city, the second phase will focus on detailed traffic and engineering designs in addition to proposed improvements. "The idea is to prepare an urban transport development strategy for the future including improving road networks, public transport, road facilities, pedestrian facilities, parking, using intelligent traffic systems, etc," he added.
GNIDA has invited interested applicants to submit their bids for the proposed project by December 1. "We should have the consultant in place in the New Year," said Panda.
