Qarib Qarib Singlle, starring Irrfan Khan and Parvathy, is witnessing a decent run at the Indian box office. The film has earned Rs 8.30 crore within three days of its release. On Sunday the film collected Rs 3.50 crore. A quick glance at the actor’s social media handles, and one can see that fans and critics are going gaga over Irrfan. Qarib Qarib Singlle is expected to earn more in the coming days. Earlier this year, the actor was seen in Hindi Medium, which also did well at the box office.

Presently, Qarib Qarib Singlle is facing competition from Rajkummar Rao’s Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana and Hollywood film Thor: Ragnarok. Coming weekend might be more challenging with the release of DC Comics’ Justice League and Vidya Balan’s Tumahari Sulu.

Film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her review, “Qarib Qarib Singlle is a road movie-cum-coming-of-age romance, with a bittersweet tang to it, and yet it is peppy, and fun and fresh: two adults, a man and a woman, connect via a dating site, and find that online, can, sometimes, translate into something vital and real, offline.”

“What’s nice about these two people (in Bollywood parlance, they would be called ‘mature’) is that they’ve already lived a little. They’ve not just notched up years, but experience too. They bear the marks of previous relationships. They feel fleshed out, each carrying over something from the past: keepsakes, memories, the smell of former lovers,” she added.
