NAGPUR: There has been no arrest in the murder of 65-year-old Mohd Salim even 24 hours after the incident at Ekta Mills premises on Saturday. The victim had been a vagabond ever since his family had distanced itself from him over his liquor addiction.
Salim, who lived off alms, used to frequent the country liquor den opposite the place where he was found dead. The unidentified assailant had bludgeoned Salim to death before smashing his face and head with a stone. The body was discovered by passers-by in the morning.
Police are scanning CCTV footage of various establishments in the vicinity of the murder site. A tile-fitter, who used to share the place where Salim slept in the night, is under police scanner now for his possible involvement in the murder after a drunken brawl.
