Kshirsagar pond in pathetic condition

FOLLOW US:

Ujjain : The Ujjain Municipal Corporation’s utter neglect of the Kshirsagar pond has troubled people living in the locality, as well as trespassers no end. Foul smell emanating from the pond due to poor maintenance has deteriorated the water of the pond and any action by the UMC was taken only after the media highlighted the problem. Unfortunately, the situation has since aggravated, even after dead fish were removed from the pond.

As reported earlier, a contract of Rs 88 lakh was given to an Indore based contractor for the entire maintenance work, as well as beautification by means of fountains during Simhasth-2016. These musical fountains were set up with just one in working condition. Low oxygen levels also resulted in fish dying in the pond. Corporator, Satyanarayan Chouhan said the contract had been given while he was in charge, but added that the responsibility of maintenance is now on the UMC.
