MANGALURU: An endorsement by US President Donald Trump of PM Narendra's Modi leadership at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Hanoi and a World Bank report on rise in India's ranking in ease of doing business came in handy for BJP leadership to lash out at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. The occasion was Mangaluru leg of party's Parivartana Rath Yatra that state BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa is leading across the state starting November 2.

Addressing a good turnout of party supporters on Saturday, Yeddyurappa was particularly severe on Rahul Gandhi's reported criticism of Modi on various policies including the GST. "You are a 'bachcha' (child) in front of Modi. Read what leader of the most powerful nation in the world has to say about Modi. Do brush up your facts on what the World Bank has to state about India's rise in ranking in the ease of doing business before launching an attack on the PM," he said.

Daring Rahul Gandhi to flag his criticism against Modi on demonetization, GST and terrorism in the Parliament, Yeddyurappa, also Shivamogga MP said the BJP will give a befitting reply to all such insinuations. "Your (Rahul Gandhi's) criticism of PM Modi will not have any bearing on his stature as not just a national leader but also a leader of global standing that none other than US President Donald Trump has acknowledged and endorsed at Hanoi," Yeddyurappa said.

Raking the issue of reluctance of Congress government to ban PFI in the state, the former CM said while KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao wants this organization that is high on NIA's radar to be proscribed, it is flourishing in the state with patronage of CM and his close confidant K J George. The PFI has an active role in murders of BJP and Hindu organization workers in the coast and their role in terror activities has been spelt out by the NIA, he noted.

Lashing out at his bete noire and CM Siddaramaiah, Yeddyurappa pointed to lack of governance in Bengaluru as the sore sticking point of the Congress 4-1/2-year-rule in Karnataka. Accusing him of weakening anti-graft body - Lokayukta in the state and promoting the ACB for his personal gains, Yeddyurappa said, "BJP on return to power will empower the Lokayukta and ensure that all the misdeeds of the Congress are probed and errant leaders brought to justice."
