Senior AIADMK leader and Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar on Friday rejected the contention that there was a connection between the ruling party and the searches being carried out by Income Tax department officials on the premises of individuals related to sidelined AIADMK leaders V.K. Sasikala [who is currently serving her term in a Bengaluru prison] and her nephew T.T.V. Dhinakaran.
“There is no connection whatsoever between the AIADMK and the searches being carried out by the Income Tax department. The searches are being carried out only based on the inputs they [I-T officials] have received. So, there is no connection between us and the searches,” Mr. Jayakumar told reporters before leaving for Guwahati to attend the GST Council meeting there.
