Officials of Crime Branch inspecting crime spot at Sarispadar on Friday | Express

JEYPORE:A Crime Branch team from Bhubaneswar reached Koraput on Friday to investigate the Sarispadar gang-rape case which has been shrouded in controversy.Led by Inspector Soubhagya Laxmi Patnaik, the CB team first held discussion with senior police officials of Koraput and later went to Sarispadar where the alleged incident took place. They inspected the spot once more and checked if the crime scene has been manipulated.

The CB team also visited the child care centre at Dumuriput to meet the victim. Though the girl is stable both physically and mentally, police are keeping her under tight security. The team will visit Saheed Laxman Nayak MCH on Saturday to talk to the doctors. Though the investigation in the case has already been completed, the police administration is cross checking every fact before making the details of the case public.

About a month back, the Class IX schoolgirl was allegedly gang-raped by four unidentified persons. The incident sparked huge uproar in the State. However, the sensational incident took a dramatic turn after police ruled out rape of the minor girl.On the other hand, family members of the victim have demanded another medical examination of the girl. The police have twisted the facts, they alleged.

Meanwhile, Jeypore MLA and Congress Chief Whip Taraprasad Bahinipati alleged that the Home department, which is headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, was diluting the facts and diverting the attention of people.
