Sources close to Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone have informed indianexpress.com that the Padmavati actor recently visited the Padmavathi Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The actor sought the blessings of Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathi.

The source further added that she really wanted to visit the temple of the Goddess before the release of her much-awaited film Padmavati, in which she essays the role of Rani Padmini. Visiting the temple was a surreal experience for Deepika. The actor also scheduled her promotions in a manner that she can set aside some time for her trip to Tirupati.

Things have been tough for Padmavati with various political and religious organizations objecting to the content of the film. Recently, in an attempt to put all the rumours and controversies to rest, the filmmakers shared a video in which director Sanjay Leela Bhansali declared that there is zero interaction between Rani Padmavati (Deepika’s character) and Khilji (Ranveer’s character).

In the video, Bhansali can be seen saying, “Through this video, I want to tell you all something. Padmavati has been made with a lot of responsibility and hard work. I have always been inspired by Rani Padmini’s story and this film is just a tribute to her honour and courage. But because of some rumours, the film is being dragged into a controversy. The rumour is of Rani Padmini and Allaudin Khilji having a dream sequence. I have clarified it earlier and I am doing it again through this video that there is no scene in the film which will hurt anyone’s sentiments. We have kept the honour of Rajputs intact. So, there are no such scene or any sort of dream sequence which would hurt anyone. Thank you.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited film Padmavati seeks to glorify the tale of the sacrifice of Queen Padmini of Mewar. The film also features Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh.

Padmavati is scheduled to release on December 1.
