JAIPUR: Chief minister Vasundhara Raje said the trading community will benefit from GST exemptions announced by the Centre on Friday.

She was speaking on the sidelines of her public hearings in Alwar on Saturday. The GST council had lowered the GST rates on 177 items, which includes items that are exclusive for the state.

In Alwar, she granted Rs 70 lakh to build the statue of Maharana Pratap. The Rajput community hailed the Raje's decision made before Rajput women at a public hearing.

Meanwhile, the Alwar police arrested 10 Congress men for waving black flags at chief minister Raje. Demanding water from Chambal river, medical college and cleanliness in the city, Congress workers staged protests and raised slogans in different places in the city. "Protesters were arrested for disrupting peace and we found having black flags in their pockets," said Sheeshram Meena, in-charge of Aravali Vihar police station.

Raje had come to the district attend public hearings and meeting people in a block-wise manner. Her visit is seen as an apparent move to garner support for the BJP in the upcoming elections in Alwar.
