GREATER NOIDA: A day after Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) cut speed limits for motorists on the expressway, Arunvir Singh, CEO, YEIDA held a meeting of traffic police and RTO officials on Friday to further rein in violators.
Singh has directed that two new police check posts be established at both zero points of the expressway—one at Greater Noida and another at Agra—besides installation of 12 static cameras along the expressway. The CEO has also ordered the traffic police to have 10 patrolling mobile vans equipped with cameras and 10 speed guns in place within a week.
YEIDA officials said the move follows a meeting held with SP (traffic) of Gautam Budh Nagar, Mathura and Agra along with the RTO. "We've decided to integrate the Intelligent Traffic Management System already in place along the Noida-Greater Noida expressway. This will enable traffic police to identify speeding vehicles along with the violators. Repeated offenders will be penalised and their driving licenses will be suspended," he said.
