PSI thrashed by chicken centre owner, 20 others

NAGPUR: Police sub inspector (PSI) Bhavesh Kawre, posted at Hudkeshwar police station, was allegedly assaulted by a chicken centre owner, who is yet to be identified, and his 20 accomplices at Mhalgi Nagar on Saturday afternoon. Offence has been registered at Hudkeshwar police station.


Cops said the incident happened when the accused were passing lewd comments at a girl. When Kawre, who happened to be present near the spot, reprimanded them, the accused charged at him accusing cops of deliberately intervening in such matters to extract money.


Kawre tried to escape but the accused pinned him down and attacked him with wooden sticks and plastic pipes, said sources. A team of Hudkeshwar police rushed to the spot on being informed and rescued Kawre. Cops said the chicken centre was being run illegally.
