KOCHI: Better infrastructure, utilisation of technology, industry-oriented research, and internationalisation in higher education hold the key to creating the best climate for growth of entrepreneurship in the State, said former diplomat and vice-chairman of Kerala State Higher Education Council T.P. Sreenivasan here on Saturday. He was addressing young entrepreneurs on the concluding day of TiEcon Kerala 2017.

He explained why the higher education system had not been doing enough to promote entrepreneurship in the past. “We have now reached a stage where the State’s higher education system plays an active role in encouraging entrepreneurship. Industry-oriented researches are the need of the hour. If we research and develop patents, and they are taken on board by the industry and developed over a period of time, it will greatly help entrepreneurship in the country,” he said.

G. Vijayaraghavan, former member, Kerala State Planning Board; Abraham Koshy, Professor Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad; Rahul Das, CEO, Fourth Ambit Technologies, and Santhosh Kurup, CEO, ICT Academy of Kerala, were present.

Alessandro Guliani, MD, MISB Bocconi; Shabeer Nellikode, MD, Universal Hospital; Subroto Bagchi, co-founder, Mindtree; Ajayakumar, chief financial officer, EMIRCOM; Jayat Prasad Paleti, co-founder, Darwinbox, and Elias George, former MD, KMRL, spoke.
