Soccer-Man United's Young relishing England return

Nov 10 (Reuters) - Ashley Young never thought his England career was over, even when he was left out of squad after squad, and the Manchester United wing-back is relishing the chance to play international football again after being called-up for friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

The 32-year-old, who has 30 caps, could make his first England appearance since 2013 when Gareth Southgate's side host world champions Germany on Friday.

"I never once shut the door on England or thought the door was shut on myself," Young told reporters.

"When you have the chance to represent your country, it's an honour to pull on an England shirt. That's why I will never retire until my legs tell me they can't run any more."

Young, who has made nine starts for United this campaign, played just 23 of the Premier League club's 64 matches last season but says he was determined to force his way back into the manager's plans.

"I think there did come a point last season where I wasn't in the squad," Young said. "I wasn't even making the 18.

"It was disappointing but I have never thought about leaving the club. I've always got that determination to get back in the squad and get back playing. As a footballer, you want to play week in, week out."
