‘Adequate funds should be allocated’

APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy asserted on Friday that the Congress would spearhead a mass agitation along with the displaced families if the government failed to complete the Polavaram project by 2018-end.

Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said the party would exert pressure on the State government for expediting work on the irrigation projects and their timely completion. Mr. Raghuveera Reddy, vice-president N. Thulasi Reddy, and party leaders inspected Sarvarayasagar, Vamikondasagar, and Gandikota reservoir in Kadapa district.

Later, the PCC chief said the government should allocate adequate funds and expedite the ongoing works to ensure their completion.

Suspend defectors

Accusing Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao of setting the democratic norms aside, the PCC chief demanded disqualification of the MLAs who defected to the ruling party without quitting their elected posts.

Leaders J. Gurunadha Rao, Chanchal Babu Yadav, former MLAs, Mohd. Ahmedullah and P.M. Kamalamma, Kadapa DCC president Nazeer Ahmed accompanied him.
