TIRUCHY: Urging the Centre to address the farmers’ charter demands, including completely waiving off all agricultural loans taken by farmers through both government and private financial organisations, members with 180 farmers associations from across the nation, are to stage a massive three-day protest in New Delhi, on November 20 to 22, said P Ayyakannu, one of the coordinators, from All Indian Kisan Sangarsh Coordination Committee (ALKSCC), TN wing, during a press meet held on Thursday.

Addressing the media, P Ayyakannu, a senior farmer from Tiruchy, said, “The BJP government had promised to provide several amenities for the welfare of farmers, during elections. However, the BJP-led central government has failed to fulfil any of the assurances made for the farmers. The centre discriminating against farmers by not providing any amenities nor not addressing our demands.”

Despite several protests of late, there was no positive response to the farmers. Nearly 180 farmers associations from across the nation are planning to stage a massive protest for three days from November 20 to 22, urging the centre to address the two charter demands. He added that about 1,000 to 2,000 farmers, including women associated with about 51 farmers association in the state are expected to participate.
