BENGALURU: Administrator of Sakala Mission, K Mathai, on Thursday approached Halasuru Gate police and filed a case against a Chief Account Officer of BBMP and others for allegedly misusing his General Provident Fund (GPF). Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered against the BBMP officers.
Mathai alleged in the complaint, “While I was serving as Assistant Commissioner of Advertisement in BBMP from November 2014 to April 2016, `15000 used to be deducted from my salary every month towards GPF. The Chief Accounts Officer and others had to deposit the same to my GPF account which was maintained by the Accountant General (AG). But, after quitting BBMP I came to know that the AG hadn’t deposited the money. The total amount is `2,50,000. If it would have been deposited on time I could have got `60,000 extra as interest but, now I won’t get principal amount or interest. I would have received `3,10,000 if he had paid on time”.

“I had written many letters to BBMP during the last one year but no action has been taken so far. My staff visited them around 50 times, but they did not bother to answer. Later, I also warned the officials that I would file a case against them but they still did not respond. I understood they had misused my GPF and that’s when I approached the police”, Mathai added.“Based on a complaint we have taken up the case and are discussing with legal experts to take an action against the BBMP officials mentioned in the complaint,’’ a senior police officer said.
