NEW DELHI: Metal and mining stocks Coal India (down 1.78 per cent), National Aluminium Company (NALCO) (down 0.96 per cent), JSW Steel (down 0.93 per cent), Vedanta (down 0.54 per cent) and Jindal Steel & Power (down 0.49 per cent) were trading in the negative territory in Friday's trade.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.43 per cent down at 3,833 around 11:20 am (IST).

Shares of Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (up 1.52 per cent), Hindustan Copper (up 0.60 per cent), MOIL (up 0.59 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (up 0.57 per cent) and Hindalco Industries (up 0.34 per cent) were trading up around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 2 points down at 10,307, while the BSE Sensex was up 9.44 points at 33,260.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro, UltraTech Cement, YES Bank, ITC, GAIL and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

However, Aurobindo Pharma, Asian Paints, Tata Motors, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Coal India were among the top losers.
