Rohingya man arrested for illegally staying in Ajmer

AJMER: Police on Friday arrested a Rohingya Muslim from Myanmar who was illegally residing in dargah region.

Interestingly, he managed to secure a PAN card and other documents for himself. Police booked him under different sections of Indian Penal Code and also seized his refuge registration card of Delhi refugee camp. Police is now looking for those who helped him to get valid identity documents on fake papers.

According to police, an investigation was started in the dargah region against one Aman Ullah (30), son of Abdul Shakur, a resident and citizen of Myanmar. "We came to know that Aman crossed the border through Bangladesh in 2009 and reached Kolkata and later to the New Delhi at United Nations refugee came at Vasant Vihar. He got the refugee registration number 431056 10C00456. Aman then went to Jammu Kashmir and stayed there and started teaching students. He remained there for six months," said police official.

In March 2010, Aman came to Ajmer and he started teaching in the houses of khadims and also in masjid and during that time he started preparing documents showing himself as a resident of Ajmer.

During his stay, he managed to secure PAN card and ration card in his name. He also opened an account in a bank and got electricity, water and cooking gas connection.

"During seizure, we also got the registration number of Aman as a refugee from Myanmar and he admitted that he made fake identity cards to get the real ones," added police.

Police said that they booked him under Section 420. 467,469 and others and also looking for the local help that manage to get the identification cards to Rohingya Muslim came illegally to Ajmer and settled.

Sources said that police is now looking for people who create identification cards to those people who came from Bangladesh and settled down here and got ID cards in Ajmer.


In 2010, a gang was busted who were providing ration cards to illegal Bangladeshis settled in Ajmer.


Police said that these illegal Bangladeshi were also had many Rohingya Muslims and after coming to Ajmer they started working as khadims on cheap wages and later settle down.


Bangladeshis settled here in dargah bazaar and they were deported but after a year or so those deported illegal settled Bangladeshis were found back in this region
