NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was trading flat in afternoon trade on Friday.

The S&P BSE Midcap index was 6 points up at 16,584, while the equity benchmark Sensex was 21 points down at 33,230 around 1 pm (IST). The NSE Nifty50 was 13 points down at 10,296.

Shares of MphasiS (up 3.80 per cent), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (up 3.57 per cent), GRUH Finance (up 3.37 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (up 3.18 per cent), Tata Communications (up 2.19 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 2.06 per cent) and Vakrangee (up 2.04 per cent) were among the top gainers in the BSE Midcap index.

On the other hand, Reliance Communications (down 5.67 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 2.73 per cent), National Aluminium Company (down 2.19 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 2.11 per cent), Biocon (down 2.07 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (down 2 per cent) were among the top losers.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 17 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.

Larsen & Toubro, State Bank of India, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank, ITC, Hindustan Unilever and Infosys were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

On the contrary, Tata Motors, Asian Paints, Reliance Industries, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma and Tata Consultancy Services were among the top losers.
