WHITEMARSH >> Concerned residents raised questions regarding traffic safety and stormwater management Thursday before the board of supervisors.
During the public comment period, resident Michelle Crossmith inform the board that she had a petition with her neighbors’ support to install speed humps on Farmers Lane, where she currently resides. Her major concern was the number of children living in the neighborhood, he said, especially in light of a reported accident years ago in which a child was hit and killed by a speeding car.
However, Chief of Police Chris Ward had indicated that the story of the accident not be true.
“I have been a police officer here for 29 years and with our knowledge and our database, we have no record in the system that occurred, nor do I have any personal recollection of that,” Ward said. “We have looked into those things.”
Township Manager Rick Mellor assured Crossmith that her request for speed humps will be reviewed by police and others in order to perform a study to determine if that is a feasible option.
Residents Connie and Craig Walters raised concerns over the talk of expanding the Jeanes Library’s parking lot because stormwater runoff has caused problems on their neighboring property.
Designs for the library’s expanded parking lot are currently in design phase and will be discussed at a public meeting early next year. At that time, library officials will present their expansion plans, and residents will be able to raise any concerns they might have.
