MMRDA suspends monorail services after fire breaks out in Mysore Colony station

Due to this Monorail services have since been disrupted.

Fire broke out at the Mysore Colony Monorail station in Chembur on Thursday morning damaging two coaches and parts of the station.

No casualties were reported, since empty rakes were being from Wadala to begin the day’s service from Chembur.

A statement from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said that the Metropolitan Commissioner has ordered an enquiry by an independent committee to determine the cause of fire and for a full check-up of all the monorail trains.

All monorail services have been suspended till further orders.

The project implemented by the MMRDA presently operates between Chembur and Wadala, a stretch comprising seven stations.
