Must work as one: Kejriwal tells Punjab and Haryana

more-in

With Delhi facing severe levels of air pollution for a second day, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday reached out to his counterparts in Punjab and Haryana, seeking a meeting to come up with a solution to curbing stubble burning in their States.

Asks for a meeting

In his letters to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Mr. Kejriwal wrote: “One of the main reasons for this poor quality of air in Delhi during this part of the year is the stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana”.

He said that the governments had “failed” to provide the farmers a financially-viable alternative to burning stubble to clear fields. Mr. Kejriwal said the governments will have to work together to come up with a solution and asked the two to set up a meeting at the earliest.
