Govt to provide safety training to SC, ST girls

HYDERABAD: The department of women, children, disabled & senior citizens welfare has decided to impart training to adolescent girls belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to enhance their understanding of issues relating to safety.Unmarried girls aged between 13 and 21 years, preferably drop-outs from schools and colleges, will be identified by workers for the training. The objective is to build capacity of adolescent girls on matters relating to safety, health, nutrition, hygiene, reproductive health, prevention of child marriage, anti-trafficking and awareness on legal and protective mechanisms.

According to guidelines issued by the department, the period of training shall not be less than six days and there shall not be more than 50 girls in a batch. The relevant laws and Acts will also be taught to the girls. The resource persons will be drawn from UNICEF, Judicial Academy and Legal Services Authority.
