Distribution of equipment begins

A student community in which no one is marginalised is the aim of the government’s Public Education Rejuvenation Campaign, Minister for Education C. Ravindranath has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the State-level distribution of equipment for differently abled students under the aegis of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan at the South urban resource centre in Manacaud here on Wednesday.

Differently abled students were society’s asset. The government would strive to make education more inclusive so that differently abled students became part of the mainstream. No child was alike, and it was necessary to recognise the talents of each and develop them. Encouraging the differently abled would help boost their confidence, he said.

Autism centre

Mayor V.K. Prasanth, who presided over the function, inaugurated the revamped autism centre and physio- and speech-therapy units set up using ₹2.15 lakh as part of SBI Life’s corporate social responsibility initiative. Ward councillor S. Suresh distributed escorting allowance.

SSA Project Director A.P. Kuttikrishnan was present on the occasion.
