Tirupur: A day after as many as 79 voter identity cards were found abandoned in a garbage dumping site in Narasingapatti here, Madathukulam tahsildar on Thursday submitted a report to the district collector, K S Palanisamy, saying it was a deliberate step by some miscreants.

The voter ID cards were found spread over the garbage on Narasingapatti-Krishnapuram road on Wednesday. Finding this, commuters on the stretch alerted the local village administrative officer, Mujibur Rahman, who collected the voter ID cards from the spot and handed them over to the Madathukulam tahsildar, Kennedy.

Revenue officials, meanwhile, found the voter ID cards were original and they belonged to the people of Bodinayakkanur taluk in Theni district. The election identity cards were supposedly issued in 2011-12. TNN
