Australian naval ship arrives in Goa for four-day visit

Australian Navy's ANZAC class frigate HMAS Warramunga arrived on visit today and will be here till November 12, the Indian Navy official said today.

"HMAS Warramunga is on a visit to from November between 9 and 12. Warramunga is an Australian Navy ANZAC class Frigate. The ship is commanded by Commander Dugald WC Clelland and is currently berthed at Mormugao Port The 118 mtr ship is manned by 190 personnel including 24 officers and 166 sailors," the Indian Navy spokesman has said in a statement issued here.


He said a team of Indian Navy personnel visited the ship for interaction with the crew of the Australian ship today.

"A professional visit of Australian ship officers and sailors to Naval Base Hansa will also be conducted on November 10. During the interactions various professional issues will be discussed," he said.

"A friendly T-20 Cricket match will be played between mixed teams of Naval Area and HMAS Warramunga at Naval Area Stadium. Social interactions on a reciprocal basis are also planned to be held between the two sides," the spokesman said.

Commander Dugald WC Clelland, Commanding Officer HMAS Warramunga, called on Rear Admiral Puneet K Bahl, the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Area today and discussed various bilateral issues.

The ship is scheduled to depart on November 12 and will participate in the Passage Exercise with Indian Naval ship Gomati, the spokesman said.
