MAPUSA: Human Rights Defenders, an NGO, has written to the director of municipal administration stating that the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) has failed to follow the Goa Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Rules 2016.

The NGO's president, Advino Fernandes, said when he inquired via an RTI application, the municipality furnished wrong information about the details of the town vending committee that was supposed to be formed as per the Street Vendors Act 2014.

Human Rights Defenders also sought details regarding the holding capacity of the vending zones and total area allotted to vendors. tnn
