Tirupur: The district unit of India Thowheed Jamath has decided to join other Muslim outfits, who are planning to lay siege to the Coimbatore airport on December 6, the day when Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was demolished, to urge the Central government to handover the mosque to the minority community.
The outfit passed a resolution regarding the agitation at a meeting held in the city on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the meeting, the outfit's vice-president I Mohammed Munir condemned the Central government for the income tax raids at Jaya TV office and other places related to VK Sasikala. "Though Jaya TV was affiliated to a certain political party, it was after all a media organisation. Same kinds of raids as well as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiries were conducted against NDTV network offices. It shows that the Central government is appropriating the Central agencies against those who oppose it. The freedom of the press and freedom of expression have been affected the most since BJP came to power," said Munir.
