Join World Rallycross presenter Andrew Coley on the track, as he picks the elements that make Ford's V8 muscle car truly iconic
9 November 2017

The Ford Mustang’s legendary blend of American muscle car looks and V8 performance has made it an icon around the world. Now it’s here in Britain, there’s plenty more to love under the skin.

From the choice of fastback or convertible, manual or automatic, there really is a Mustang for everyone. All come fitted with 19” wheels for standout style, with a range of customisable options – including an all-black roof and racing stripes on selected models.

Under the hood you’ve got a choice of a wonderfully characterful 5.0-litre V8, or the cutting-edge tech of the four-cylinder 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine – which delivers real-world running costs without losing the fun factor. And, when you’re on a race circuit, there are a variety of track-focused features – including the impressive Line Lock and launch control, which deliver a tyre-smoking getaway.

The Ford Mustang really is the sum of all these parts – and so much more.

Our Verdict

Ford Mustang V8 Fastback

The Ford Mustang is available in the UK in right-hand drive for the first time, but does the rest of this American muscle car fit the UK car scene?
