Beast has run out: Ridley Scott teases the end of 'Alien' franchise

Oscar-winning director Ridley Scott has revealed that the 'Alien' franchise no longer needs its alien, also known as a Xenomorph.

While plans are in place for two more sequels, Scott believes that the franchise may have just run its course, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While speaking in an interview, Scott said, "I figured it was a good piece of business to follow through 'Prometheus' which, from ground zero, had good lift-off. So we went to 'Covenant' to perpetuate the idea and [revive] the franchise of the 'Alien'. I think the beast has almost run out, personally."

This is the first time the iconic sci-fi helmer has cast doubt over the future of the franchise.

In an interview last month, the 79-year-old director revealed how a future sequel would concentrate on the role of artificial intelligence in the world.

It should be noted that Ridley Scott has decided to replace Kevin Spacey in the already finished 'All the money in the World' little more than a month before its release.

Veteran actor Christopher Plummer is now all set to play J. Paul Getty in the story about the infamous 1973 kidnapping of his grandson.
