CHENNAI: The full bench of the Election Commission of India on Wednesday reserved the final order on the dispute regarding the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol dispute after announcing that the arguments by both factions of the AIADMK were over. Written submissions, if any, can be filed by both by Monday.

The EC did not specify any date for delivering its final order but it is expected soon. As per the directions of the Supreme Court, the EC has to give its verdict by November 10 (Friday). However, explaining the long-drawn hearing, the Commission may seek some more time from the court to issue the final order.
During the final hearing, former AG Mukul Rohatgi submitted arguments on behalf of the faction headed by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

He said as per the records of the AIADMK as on December 5,2016, only 168 members were with the faction led by VK Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran and that majority of the office-bearers were with the ruling faction.

‘Dispute because of Sasi’

The  counsel for Deputy CM said the dispute arose because of Sasikala/ Dhinakaran
