LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) November 09, 2017
Dr. Parsa Mohebi, the Los Angeles based founder of Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration, has recently published a study documenting evidence that hair transplants can be used as a treatment option for the condition known as scalp psoriasis.
According to Dr. Mohebi, “Over the past several years, I have been conducting a study to determine whether hair transplantation could successfully treat scalp psoriasis. Common symptoms of the condition include both itching and hair loss. However, thanks to this study, hair transplantation might soon be added to the list of scalp psoriasis treatments.”
Dr. Mohebi said the study findings suggest that transplanting follicular units into psoriatic scalp lesions might be an effective way to reduce psoriasis symptoms as well as a possible treatment option for the disease. Dr. Mohebi went on to say “One of the most interesting aspects of these results is the fact that this treatment has never been reported on before this study. The use of hair transplants could help provide relief to millions of people suffering from psoriasis scalp lesions that are resistant to more conventional treatments.”
Dr. Mohebi transplanted hair into the psoriatic lesions of three patients. The three patients were then evaluated over a period of 7 to 15 months after the conclusion of their hair transplants. They also had a repeat biopsy from the original area of the psoriatic plaque. The report results showed the pathologic findings were consistent with post-operative changes and no histologic evidence of psoriasis was documented in any of the three patients.
The report concluded with a suggestion that “transplantation of hair follicular units into psoriatic scalp lesions could be an effective method to alleviate the symptoms of psoriasis and possibly be used as a treatment option. More studies on the exact mechanism of this phenomenon may lead the way to novel treatments for this chronic disorder.”
